From April 27 to 30, 2026, a delegation of four from Dalian University of Technology (DUT), including Ji Shunying, Dean of the DUT-BSU Joint Institute and Secretary of its Direct Party Branch, and Wang Dongyang, Deputy Dean and Deputy Secretary of the Elite Engineers College, visited Belarus for exchange and discussion. The visit aimed to deepen collaborative development between China and Belarus in higher education, scientific innovation, and industrial cooperation, and to further advance the “Belt and Road” education initiative.

Deepening Educational Cooperation and Jointly Cultivating Elite Engineering Talents
On April 28, the delegation held a working meeting with Belarusian State University (BSU) to discuss deepening inter-institutional collaboration. The meeting was attended by BSU Vice-Rectors Kochyn Victar and Natalya Ignatovich, as well as Liudmila Liashenka, Dean of the BSU-DUT Joint Institute. The two sides had in-depth discussions on the joint cultivation of engineering talents in cutting-edge fields such as computational mechanics, physics, mathematical modeling, and materials science. They reached a consensus on strengthening professional knowledge and skills training, and agreed on forms of cooperation including faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and personnel training.
On the afternoon of April 28, the delegation held a special symposium on talent cultivation with the Deans of BSU’s Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics (Sergei Bosiakov), Faculty of Physics (Mikhail Tivanov), and Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science (Igor Orlovich). They exchanged views on further optimizing undergraduate joint training programs, promoting integrated bachelor-master-doctoral training, and highlighting the strengths of China-Belarus cooperative education, and formulated a series of work plans.

Expanding Scientific Research Cooperation and Promoting the Development of the China-Belarus University Alliance
On April 29, the delegation visited the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics to discuss preparations for the upcoming China-Belarus University Alliance conference and bilateral research cooperation. The meetings were attended by Vadim Bogush, Rector of the university, Viktor Stempitsky, Vice Rector for Research, and Maxim Lobb, Head of the International Cooperation Department. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening research cooperation, promoting academic exchanges, and deepening talent cultivation, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration.

Addressing Industry Needs and Fostering Deep Integration of Industry, Academia, and Research
On April 30, the delegation, together with Natalya Ignatovich, ViceRector for Economics and Logistics Development of BSU, and Liudmila Liashenka, Dean of the BSU-DUT Joint Institute, visited the China-Belarus Great Stone Industrial Park. They held talks with the Park’s Administration and Development Company. During the meeting, Aleksandr Kivakov, Deputy Head of the Investment Promotion Department of the Industrial Park Administration, provided a detailed introduction to the Park’s development history, investment environment, and preferential policies. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on building scientific and technological innovation platforms, jointly cultivating high-level talents, and translating research outcomes into industrial applications. The meeting was attended by Lebedev, First Deputy Head of the Administration, and Ren Fei, Deputy General Manager of the Park Development Company. Both sides expressed their commitment to using the DUT-BSU Joint Institute as an important cooperation platform and leveraging the strategic role of the Great Stone Industrial Park to promote deep alignment between the two countries in higher education, scientific innovation, and engineering practice, aiming to establish a benchmark for the deep integration of science, education, and industry along the Belt and Road.

This visit not only deepened the collaborative relationship between Dalian University of Technology and Belarusian universities, but also built a broader platform for China-Belarus cooperation in higher education, scientific innovation, and industrial collaboration. The DUT-BSU Joint Institute will continue to follow the Belt and Road Initiative as a guiding principle, promote high-quality development of China-Belarus Educational Cooperation, and make greater contributions to the socio-economic development, scientific and technological progress, and talent cultivation of both countries.
