From July 27 to August 7, 2026, Xu Nan and Lyu Danyang from the DUT-BSU Joint Institute led 25 students to Belarusian State University and successfully carried out a 12-day "Minsk Study Camp." With academic study as the main focus, the camp also incorporated rich cultural visits and field research activities, achieving fruitful exchange outcomes.
On the evening of July 27, the delegation arrived safely in Minsk and completed accommodation check-in. The opening ceremony officially kicked off at Belarusian State University on the morning of July 28. Natalya Ignatovich, Vice-Rector of Belarusian State University; Liudmila Liashenka, Dean of the Joint Institute of Belarusian State University and Dalian University of Technology; Mikhail Tivanov, Dean of the Faculty of Physics; and Sergei Bosiakov, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, delivered welcoming addresses, extending a warm welcome to the visiting teachers and students. A number of local Belarusian media outlets carried out on-site interviews and special coverage of the opening ceremony, demonstrating keen interest in the summer camp activities.
Starting from July 29, teachers from BSU offered a series of academic lectures in physics and mechanics for the delegation, systematically introducing the university's disciplinary development history and research platform resources, and providing in-depth explanations on frontier topics such as optics, mechanics, and intelligent material applications. In addition, the institute arranged English and Russian language courses, which effectively improved the students' language application abilities and deepened their understanding of Belarusian society and culture.
Beyond professional study, the delegation visited the BSU main campus, physics laboratories, the Zoological Museum, the China-Belarus Great Stone Industrial Park, and other sites. Through multi-dimensional investigations covering culture, history, research, industry, and education, the students further clarified their academic and career development directions and strengthened their confidence in devoting themselves to China-Belarus international cooperation and the "Belt and Road" Initiative.
During their leisure hours, the delegation visited renowned cultural landmarks including central Minsk and Nesvizh Castle, gaining first-hand experience of the tranquility and hospitality of Belarusian cities as well as their distinctive Eastern European allure.
On the morning of August 5, student representatives from both universities delivered group presentations on their takeaways and reflections from the summer camp via video displays and PowerPoint presentations. Their presentations touched upon cultural adaptation, academic insights, prospective research plans and other related topics. Faculty members from both institutions constituted a joint evaluation panel and offered feedback and comments. The students gave vivid, in-depth presentations, earning unanimous acclaim from the panel. Later that afternoon, Belarusian State University hosted a grand closing ceremony for all participating teachers and students, awarding completion certificates and outstanding group awards.
The summer camp further advanced educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two universities, created greater prospects for future cooperation covering joint training, research collaboration and other areas, and laid a solid bridge fostering mutual understanding and friendship among Chinese and Belarusian youth.
