At 18:00 on October 29th, the opening ceremony of the 2020 freshmen of DUT-BSU Joint Institute was held in the lecture hall of the Library. Professor Ji Shunying, Dean of DUT-BSU Joint Institute, Professor Hong Ming, head of the Guidance and Evaluation Expert Group, Professor Zheng Yonggang, Deputy Director of the Department of Engineering Mechanics, Professor Yu Changshui, Deputy Dean of the Department of Physics, Deputy Dean Wu Heng, relevant professional teachers, head teachers, student counselors and all class 2020 students of DUT-BSU Joint Institute! The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Guo Shuhong, Deputy Dean of the DUT-BSU Joint Institute.
The opening ceremony started with the national anthem. Dean Ji Shunying expressed the warmest welcome to everyone on behalf of all teachers and students of the institute. He said that this year is the fourth year of the establishment of the DUT-BSU Joint Institute and the leaders of the two schools have exchanged visits many times. Despite of the epidemic this year, the cooperation in running schools still maintain flourishing. He hoped that the freshmen can realize the value of life in patriotic dedication, cultivate the spirit of innovation in seeking knowledge and asking the truth, persist in striving for self-improvement in a down-to-earth manner, and forge ahead with DUT on the road of "double first-class" construction, and write their own stories well in DUT-BSU Joint Institute to achieve a brilliant future.
Due to the epidemic, the leaders and teachers of the Belarusian State University were unable to attend the ceremony, but they still recorded their high expectations for the new students from thousands of miles away. The Executive Vice-President of BSU Medvedev said that "A journey of one thousand miles begins with the first step". He hoped that the freshmen would work hard, achieve success in their studies, benefit the motherland in the future, and contribute to cultural exchanges between China and Belarus.
Professor Kazadaev, the Vice-President of BSU, expressed his welcome to the freshmen and hoped that they can devote themselves to their studies with a rigorous attitude and positive enthusiasm.
Marmysh, Vice-Dean of DUT-BSU Joint Institute, said that the institute was like a big family which depended on the efforts of each member. Although the meet could not as the previous years, he was still full of confidence in the common future and hoped that the students could make correct plans and achieve ideal results.
DUT-BSU Joint Institute has integrated the high-quality educational resources of the two universities. It has always put the construction of a Chinese-Belarusian elite talent training system and the promotion of an international high-quality education model as its top priority, and emphasizes the construction of the teaching staff. Through varied selection, 7 of the second "Outstanding Teachers of DUT-BSU Joint Institute" were selected and awards were given to outstanding teachers.
After the awards, Associate Professor Mei Yue, the representative of outstanding teachers, made a speech. He said that he was very happy to teach at the DUT-BSU Joint Institute and received this honor. In the future, he would work harder to make progress with students and develop together with the DUT-BSU Joint Institute.
Tivanov, Dean of the School of Physics of BSU and Bosiakov, Dean of the School of Mathematics and Mechanics of BSU delivered speeches respectively. They stated that their respective colleges attach great importance to the cooperation with DUT and related work of DUT-BSU Joint Institute, and are committed to creating a platform for teacher-student exchanges between the two universities. The teaching and scientific research work of the DUT-BSU Joint Institute has continued to develop in practice which will definitely contribute to the development of cooperation between Belarus and China.
At the end of the opening ceremony, all the teachers and students sang the school song of Dalian University of Technology and took a group photo.
"Don't waste your time, cherish your youthfulness", only time with struggle can have a dazzling light. It is hoped that all new students in Class 2020 can realize dreams in DUT-BSU Joint Institute!
