On January 19th, our university and Belarusian State University (BSU) jointly organized a series of activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belarus. Themed "China and Belarus: Thirty Years Hand in Hand, A New Chapter in Educational Cooperation: Teaching and Research for Mutual Advancement and the Enhancement of International Talent Training," the event witnessed the participation of representatives from BSU, the International Office, the Faculty of Vehicle Engineering and Mechanics, the School of Physics, the DUT-BSU Joint Institute, and other relevant units. Dozens of experts and teachers from both universities attended the event in a combined online and offline manner.

Dmitry Medvedev, First Vice Rector of BSU, and Konstantin Kozadaev, Vice Rector of BSU, along with Zhu Hong, Vice President of our university, and Luo Zhongxuan, Assistant to the President of our university, delivered speeches respectively. They reviewed the history of cooperation and exchanges between the two universities at the institutional and disciplinary levels, and looked forward to the deepening of friendship and cooperation in the field of education between the two universities.

Subsequently, Ji Shunying, Director of DUT-BSU Joint Institute, Ihar Saladukhin, Director of BSU-DUT Joint Institute, and representatives of teachers from both sides delivered speeches respectively. They said that in teaching cooperation and team scientific research, the teachers of the two universities have always adhered to the fundamental task of fostering virtues through education and joined hands to cultivate the successors in China-Belarus friendship across generations. They firmly believed that the “30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belarus” marks a new starting point, and the two universities will embrace even more brilliant cooperation.

After the celebration, the teachers from both sides engaged in a teaching seminars. Huang Lihua from School of Civil Engineering was invited to conduct a demonstration class in English for teachers present. Dzianis Marmysh, from the Department of Mechanics and Mathematics at BSU gave a special report, sharing his experience in teaching in English. Prof. Yang Chunqiu provided a comprehensive training for the young teachers attending the event, with the theme of “Guided by Fostering Virtue through Education, Oriented by Teaching Objectives, and the Design and Practice of Course Teaching”.

Previously, on January 13th and January 18th respectively, the two universities held the first two events of the series to celebrate the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belarus in a combined online and offline manner. These included an expert report meeting titled "Prospects for China-Belarus Cooperation" and a student academic seminar themed "Encouraging Each Other as Classmates, Building Bridges of Knowledge and Friendship". More than 200 teachers and students participated in these activities.
Activities Background
Dalian University of Technology and Belarusian State University have maintained long-term and stable relationship since 2007. Over the recent years, they have achieved remarkable results in cooperative education and scientific research. In 2017, the two universities jointly established “The Joint Institute of Dalian University of Technology and Belarusian State University” (“DUT-BSU Joint Institute”) and enrolled the first grade of students in September in the same year. At present, the two universities have jointly trained the first batch of graduates of bachelor students, including 5 BSU students who studied abroad in DUT. In January 2019, the two universities established Scientific Research and Innovation Center of DUT-BSU, jointly building a platform or technological cooperation mainly for the disciplines of engineering mechanics, applied physics, aerospace science and technology, etc. In July 2019, The Joint Institute of Belarusian State University and Dalian University of Technology was established and enrolled students. In 2021, DUT-BSU Joint Institute officially obtained the eligibility for joint training in master and PhD level, and undertook course conformity with specialties set by BSU-DUT Joint Institute, which strengthened the continuity of talent training.
This event took the opportunity of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Through joint reflections by faculty and students of both universities on the history of friendly exchanges, summarizing the outcomes of such exchanges, and envisioning future forms of cooperation, the event aimed to revisit friendship, enhance mutual trust, consolidate cooperation, and jointly cultivate a new generation of successors for the lasting friendship between China and Belarus.
