DUT-BSU Joint Institute 2025 Summer Camp in Minsk Successfully Concludes

DBJI co-hosted a 14-day “2025 Summer Camp in Minsk” at Belarusian State University (BSU) from July 21 to August 2, 2025. A delegation of 19 students was led by faculty members Zhan Xingyuan and Jia Yifang. With academic exchange at its core, this study tour integrated cultural experience and practical investigation, achieving fruitful results.

In the evening of July 21, the team arrived in Minsk and checked into the dormitory. On July 22, the opening ceremony was successfully held at BSU. Liudmila Liashenko, Dean of the Joint Institute of Belaruisian State University and Dalian University of Technology, Mikhail Tivanov, Dean of the Faculty of Physics, and Sergei Bosiakov, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, delivered opening speeches respectively. Meanwhile, this summer camp also attracted the attention of several media outlets in Belarus that interviewed delegation of DBJI and reported the opening ceremony in detail.

Beginning on July 23, faculty from BSU have delivered a series of academic lectures in physics and mechanics for the DBJI students delegation. The sessions highlighted BSU’s disciplinary development and research resources, with in-depth presentations on specialized topics such as laser physics, modern mechanics, elastic wave conduction, and applications of advanced materials. In addition, English and Russian language courses were offered to enhance participants’ listening and speaking skills and deepen their understanding of Belarusian culture.

In addition to professional course learning, the delegation also visited the Mechanics and Physics Laboratories, History Museum, Biology Museum, Law Museum, Geology Museum, Nuclear Issues Research Institute of Belarusian State University, Minsk Tractor Works, Belarusian National Radio, and the Sino-Belarusian Great Stone Industrial Park. These visits enabled students to learn about the long history and current political and economic situation of Belarus from all aspects including culture, history, scientific research, industry, and education, from ancient times to the present. It helped students understand the cutting-edge trends of scientific research and the development of related industries, better establish their learning goals and future development plans, and contribute to the Sino-Belarusian international cooperation and comprehensive development strategic plan.

During their spare time, the DBJI delegation, guided by faculty from BSU and local tour guide, visited iconic landmarks in Minsk Region, including Victory Square and Mir Castle. This opportunity allowed the group to gain firsthand experience of the daily lives of Belarusian people and appreciate the country’s unique charm.

On the morning of August 1, the language partner groups of DBJI students reported their learning outcomes in the forms of videos, PPTs and speeches, which were jointly evaluated by faculty from both sides. Students vividly presented their life experiences in Belarus, their understanding of local history and culture, and their prospects for future academic plans, winning high praise from the judges. On the afternoon of August 1, Belarusian State University held a grand closing ceremony and awarded certificates and prizes to representatives of faculty and students.

The summer camp activity has injected new vitality into the educational exchange and cooperation between China and Belarus, and further consolidated the educational cooperation foundation between our university and BSU.
